பொதுவாக தமிழ்  சினிமாவுக்கும் தங்கை வேடங்களுக்கும் ஏழாம் பொருத்தம். ஒருமுறை தங்கை வேடத்தில் நடித்துவிட்டால், தொடர்ந்து அந்த வேடமே கேரியர் முழுக்க நிரந்தரமாகிவிடும்.

முன்னணி ஹீரோ படங்களில் தங்கை வேடங்களில் நடித்த பலரும் தங்கை, துண்டு துக்கடா வேடங்களுக்கென்றே முத்திரை குத்தப்பட்டுவிடுவார்கள்.

Seeman's last film as a director ‘Vaazhthukkal’ staring Madhavan and Bhavana was released in 2008. Now after a gap of two years Seeman has committed a film which is tentatively titled 'Kobam'.

It will have Vijay working for the fire brand for the first time. Seeman recently confirmed the news. True to its tie ‘Kobam’ this film will also show its anger against the non-performing system which is glitter out side but rotten inside. It will have progressive messages relevant for the youth and well wisher of the land today says Seeman.

Shiva is Vijay fan

The upcoming film by Pushkar-Gayathri is going to be an important film for Mirchi Shiva. After the surprise winner ‘Thamizh Padam’ Shiva had donned a different role for this. The film which was initially titled ‘Quarter Cutting’ will under go a name change soon. In this film Shiva plays the hero as a fan of Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay. Lekha Washington will be his love interest.

While talking to IndiaGlitz about the film Mirchi Shiva shared an interesting anecdote involving Ilaya Thalapathi. It goes like this. While doing the promotion for his ‘Thamizh Padam’ on a television call-in show Shiva got a call from a listener who appreciated him very much for the film.

The caller spoke as if he knew Shiva for long and was generous in his praises. It was only after a while Shiva got to know the caller was Vijay. Shiva was more than surprised at the humility of one of the biggest new generation stars and went speech less for some time.

ஆவேசமாய் ‘நாம் தமிழர்’ கட்சி ஆரம்பித்திருக்கும் இயக்குனர் சீமான். அரசியல் பணிகளுக்கிடையே ஒரு படத்தை இயக்கவுள்ளார். மிகவும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த கதையாகவும், ஒவ்வொரு தமிழனையும் யோசித்துப் பார்க்க வைக்கும் காட்சிகளுமாக அதிரடியாய் களம் இறங்க இருக்கிறார்.

விஜய்தான் ஹீரோ. விஜய்க்கு இது முக்கியப் படமாக இருக்கும். ஏற்கனவே இப்படி ஒரு கதை இருப்பது விஜய்க்குத் தெரியும். இப்போது வேண்டாமே என்று தள்ளிப்போட்டு வந்திருக்கிறார். அதற்கான நேரம் இப்போது வந்திருக்கிறது. அதனால் ஒப்புக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

Vijay who is working in the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit Bodyguard will sport a complete new look..

The film is directed by Siddique , who had directed Friends in Tamil with the actor..Asin shares the screen space with the actor.. The director who is known for his stories which has a fresh appeal, is working round the clock to give it a best shot..

Interestingly when he is a writer he says “I read out all my stories to my family members and gauge their reactions and make changes accordingly. However, I’m my best critic”..

The director has given a new look for Vijay in the film.. Unlike his recent films, there won’t be any hero introduction song in this film.And he says “You will see a new Vijay in this film; he’ll leave a lasting impression on the minds of audiences with his romantic image.

The film is a love story but told in a different manner.. Vidhyasagar will be scoring the music..

Sources say, he will also be directing hindi version of the film Bodyguard, which will have Salman Khan in lead..

Genelia bags Vijay film

Genelia wasn’t lucky when she landed in Kollywood few years ago. Today she may not be counted in the ranks of Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif in Bollywood but Genelia is still a charming favourite for many. Recently her success in Bollywood was repeated in Kollywood also. Her last film in Tamil 'Santosh Subramaniam' was a super hit and her jinx in Kollywood was broken for ever.

Her second round in Kollywood is gaining momentum. After the success of ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ she bagged ‘Uthamaputhiran’ opposite Dhanush and now she has got an even bigger film.

‘Jayam’ Raja who gave Genelia her first hit in Tamil has signed her for his film with Vijay. VIJAY - WHAT’S THE HURRY?

Even as Sura has just hit theaters, and we are yet to forget the songs from Vettaikaran, we get the news that Kaavalkaran is well into its shooting and is expected to be wrapped up by June or latest by July after which Jayam Raja is waiting to direct one with Vijay in the lead. Good news for Vijay fans, they will have plenty to watch and talk about, and perhaps gloat over in the next year or so. But, one is also forced to think about the sudden shift in gears from the Vijay camp, as if the T20 fever has caught on here too. This is not to say that Vijay was slow in getting his films released before this. In fact, he is one of the most consistent stars when it comes to getting his films into theaters in regular intervals. There has been no Pongal in the last five years which has not featured a Vijay release, except of course 2008 and 2010, when he had already released his films in late December; Azhagiya Thamizh Magan and Vettaikaran respectively. Almost always, the next movie of Vijay was never planned, or at least never revealed until his current project hit the screens. But, that strategy seems to have gone for a toss now. Even while Sura was under shooting, we did know that Jayam Raja was in the scheme of things with the Vijay camp. Even

more surprising is how Kaavalkaran emerged out of the blue, a few weeks after its Malayalam original Bodyguard hit the theaters in Kerala. While it is not undesirable for the industry to have one of its top stars working in full throttle, one cannot help the feeling that the mass appeal and following that Vijay commands deserves to get films that have been done after a lot of careful thought and planning. Yes, Vijay never fails to satisfy his fans. But, there is definitely a lot more that he can offer that can be missed in the frenetic pace at which his films are getting made at the moment. But, this is not the first time that we have seen Vijay enter a very intense phase of film making in his career. If one remembers correctly, the period of 2004-2005 was also one of similar activity with films like Madure, Thirupachi, Sukran, Sachein, Sivakasi and Aadhi making it to theaters in the space of 18 months. Now, how many of these were successes are anybody’s call. There is enough proof that having back-to-back releases in the space of months might not be the best way for a big star to go about, at least in the Tamil film industry. This is a bit different from the Malayalam film industry where Mammootty and Mohanlal, even after 30 years of stardom, give more than 6 films each every year. This is not to criticize Vijay or his style of work. There is no doubt that every time his film releases; how much ever close to his previous release, the fans go into frenzy and the industry receives a boost in revenue. But, this is about the potential that can go unused or unrecognized amidst all the hurry. Perhaps, Vijay needs to stop and look to realize that he can offer a whole lot more to his fans. Yes, there was a phase in the early 80s when Kamal and Rajinikanth used to release a film every quarter. But, times have changed. More than twenty years later, it is not the same criteria that define a star. We love to have more of Vijay, but we would love it even more if we could have the best of him.

I am satisfied, happy and is at peace: Vijay

Today, Vijay is an icon in his own right- millions of youngsters idolize him. All top producers, directors and heroines want to work with him and his persona gets bigger with each film. He has survived the highs and lows but remains the biggest phenomenon in Kollywood.
Vijay's new release Sura has taken a bumper opening worldwide, though he is modest enough to agree with critics that it is another mass formula film. In this exclusive interview to Sridevi Sreedhar, he opens up. Excerpts
What is your state of mind? 
I am happy, at peace.
Sura has been torn by critics. There is always a negative talk about your films for the first three days of release. Does all this affect you? 
It mattered to me a few years back but today I have crossed that stage. And bad reviews do not affect me or my film. It’s the audiences who decide the fate of a film not critics. Success or failures don’t matter to me. I take everything in my stride and move on. And I want to make a point to critics in general that they have all the right to point out mistakes in anybody’s films but not try to keep the audiences away from theatres as it affects the all-important 10 day business of any film.
What attracted you to do Sura, your 50th film? 
For me, Sura is my next film after Vettaikaran. I never wanted it to be hyped as my 50th film.
There is an underlying message in the film. If you see my last few films, I fight for my love, friend, mother or sister. But here, hero Sura fights for an entire village full of poor, helpless people. I was very satisfied while doing the film and today (smiles) with the collection figures.
The release of every film of yours is an event in Tamilnadu. And Sura has taken a gargantuan opening in Tamilnadu and Kerala...
I owe it all to my audiences. They have supported me and encouraged me. I can’t ask for more. I give my fans due respect because I believe that you cannot be unfair to people who love you unconditionally.
They say that Sura has lot of political anecdotes. Please comment? 
It was not deliberate attempt. After the script was complete, we thought that those dialogues were appropriate to the story as the villain is a corrupt politician.

Which is your favourite song in the film? 
I like the two songs in the second half-Thanjavoor Jillakkari... and Naan Nadanthal Adhiradi. We didn’t want the normal introductory song and tried a subtle and underplayed Vanga Kadal Ellai.. number. And there is no Kuthu song in the 12th reel like in all my films.
Tell us about your Siddique directedBodyguard remake from Malayalam?
First and foremost let me tell you assure you that the title of the film is not Kavalkaranas reported. We are yet to title the film. I saw the original and liked it. It has a different script not following the beaten track of my formula films. Small changes have been made by director Siddique but we have not tampered with the basic story.
Is Sanjay doing the role of your son in the film? 
(Laughs) Not at all. We have not discussed anything like that at home.
How was it working with Asin after a long time? 
She remains the same though she went to Bollywood in between. Her cooperation, dedication and timing is the same.
What about 3 Idiots remake that is doing the rounds? 
It’s too early to talk about it. There were some initial talks about it with Gemini films but nothing concrete has been discussed.

Pairing with Vijay in his 50th film!

After the successful Paiyya, it is Sura with Vijay in the lead, for Tamannaah. 

The Tamil film is very important for Vijay as it is his 50th film.

It's a very prestigious film for the young actress too. The film releases on April 30.

So what is the film about? Vijay's heroine tells us more. Excerpts:

What appealed to you to sign up Sura?

When I heard the script, I found a lot of comedy which was entertaining. In fact, it was the comedy that made me do the film. Since it was Vijay's 50th film, it was a special one too.

Has Sura something to do with fishermen as it means shark?

Yes, it is set with a fisherman's backdrop.

Asin throws a party for Kavalkaran unit!

We know that shooting out of town can get boring. So what do you do? You become friends with your co-star and unit members.
Asin who is back in Tamil on the sets of her new film with Vijay in Kumbakonam decided to give a party on her comeback to Kollywood.
She organised a theme party for Vijay, director Siddique, choreographer Dinesh, cameraman Ekambaram, Banu, costumer Anu and a few others at the huge bungalow she was staying.
Everyone was asked to keep a white flower on their ear much to their amusement, and all followed the code. Men came with a flower on their left side and women on their right side.
The cuisine was Chettinad and Asin played the perfect hostess at the party. The Poo party as it came to be known among unit members was a blast.
The Kavalkaran shoot has now shifted to ECR, near Chennai.

I HAVE BECOME SO CLOSE TO VIJAY”

The villain of Sura, Dev Gill says that he has become very close to Vijay during the shooting of the film. Recalling how he bagged the offer, Dev says that it was Vijay who had insisted that he be offered the role after seeing his performance in the Telugu smash hit Magadheera.

The actor was initially apprehensive of taking up the role but it was Ilayathalapathy that gave him the confidence. “Our relationship was initially very professional but during the course of the shoots we became close friends,” says Dev.

இதற்கு பூ பார்ட்டி என்று பெயர் வைத்தாராம்.

அது என்ன பூ பார்ட்டி... ? விருந்துக்கு வரும் எல்லோரும்... அதாவது ஹீரோ விஜய், இயக்குநர்  சித்திக் உள்பட, காதில் ஒரு வெள்ளைப் பூவை வைத்துக் கொண்டு வரவேண்டும். ஆண்கள் இடது காதிலும் பெண்கள் வலது காதிலும் பூவை சொருகிக் கொண்டு வரவேண்டும் என்பது பார்ட்டி விதி.

அசின் போட்ட கண்டிஷனாச்சே... மீற முடியுமா... அத்தனை பேரும் காதில் பூவோடு அசின் பங்களாவுக்குப் போனார்கள். விதவிதமான உணவுகள், உற்சாக சமாச்சாரங்கள் பரிமாறப்பட, இரவு முழுக்க நடந்ததாம் பார்ட்டி.

இரு தினங்களுக்குப் பிறகு, காவல்காரன் யூனிட் கிழக்குக் கடற்கரைச் சாலைக்கு இடம்பெயர்ந்தது. ஆனால் இன்னும் பூ பார்ட்டி பற்றி பேச்சு ஓயவில்லையாம் யூனிட்டில்!

Vijay to sport a new look in 3 Idiots remake

Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor, was a mega blockbuster.

The film has also become the highest grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu where it has managed to get a whooping collection in its very first week. A leading production house has got the remake rights in Tamil.

Sources say, it’s almost confirmed that Illayathalapathy Vijay will be working in the film and he will play Aamir khan’s role Rancho. As the story focuses on the education system in India, we are sure the film will work big time in Kollywood. Interestingly, the actor will be sporting a beard in the film, though it is to be noted that Aamir was clean shaven in the original version.

Noted cameraman Ratnavelu has been approached to handle the camera for the film.. Search is on for choosing the leading lady and an able director who could re-create the magic of 3 idiots..

விஜய்யுடன் நடித்த அனுபவம்?

முதல் முறையா நாங்க ஜோடி சேர்ந்திருக்கோம். விளம்பரம் பார்த்தவங்க எங்க ஜோடி சூப்பரா இருக்குன்னு சொல்றாங்க. குறிப்பா ‘நான் நடந்தால் அதிரடி’ பாடல்ல, ரெண்டு பேருமே ரொம்ப ஸ்டைலிஷா இருக்கோம்னு பாராட்டுறாங்க. இதுக்கு டைரக்டர் எஸ்.பி.ராஜகுமார், கேமராமேன் ஏகாம¢பரத்துக்குதான் நன்றி சொல்லணும். விஜய் ரொம்ப எளிமையான டைப். காட்சிகள்ல வசனத்தை புரிஞ்சிட்டு நடிக்க நான் நேரம் எடுத்துக்குவேன். அதுவரைக்கும் பொறுமையா இருந்து, அவர் ஒத்துழைப்பு கொடுப்பார்.

காமெடி?

அதை பத்தி சொல்லியே ஆகணும். விஜய் படங்கள்ல காமெடிக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் இருக்கும். அவரே நல்லா காமெடி பண்ணுவார். கூட வடிவேலும் இருக்கார். சொல்லவா வேணும்? இவங்களுக்கு நடுவில நானும் காமெடி பண்ணணும்னு ராஜகுமார் சொன்னார். பயந்துபோனேன். காரணம், இவங்களுக்கு இணையா நான் காமெடி பண்ண முடியாதுன்னுதான். கடைசியா விஜய் கொடுத்த தைரியத்துல நடிச்சேன். அந்த காட்சிகள் ரொம்ப என்டர்டெயின்மென்டா வந்திருக்குன்னு டைரக்டர் பாராட்டினார்.

ஆக்ஷன் படமிது. உங்களுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் எப்படி?

‘அயன்’, ‘படிக்காதவன்’கூட ஆக்ஷன் படங்கள்தானே. அதுல என்னோட பார்ட் ரொம்பவே முக்கியமா இருந்துச்சு. அதே மாதிரிதான் ‘சுறா’வும். மீனவ குடும்பங்களை சுத்தி நடக்கிற கதையிது. சுறாவின் காதலி நான். அந்த குப்பத்துக்கு நான் வர்றதும் விஜய்யை விரும்புறதும் அதுக்கு பிறகு நடக்கிற சம்பவங்களும் விறுவிறுப்பா இருக்கும்.

யூனிட் பற்றி?

தமிழ் படங்கள்ல எப்போவுமே எனக்கு பெஸ்ட் யூனிட்தான் கிடைச்சிருக்கு. அந்த விதத்துல நான் அதிர்ஷ்டசாலின்னுதான் சொல்வேன். வெளியில நமக்கு எத்தனையோ கவலைகள் இருக்கலாம். ஷூட்டிங் ஸ்பாட்டுக்கு வந்தா, அதையெல்லாம் மறந்து கேரக்டரோடு ஒன்றிப்போகணும். அதுக்கு ரொம்பவே ஹெல்ப்பா இருக்கிறது பட யூனிட்தான். யூனிட்ல டைரக்டர்லேருந்து லைட்பாய் வரைக்கும் சுறுசுறுப்பா சிரிச்ச முகத்தோடு இருக்கும்போது, நம்ம வேலை ஈஸி ஆயிடும். ‘சுறா’ படத்தை நாம திட்டமிட்டபடி முடிக்க யூனிட் முக்கிய காரணம்.

3 இடியட்ஸில் விஜய்?

சுறா ஆடியோ வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் பேசிய கே.எஸ்.ரவிக்குமார், விஜய் அடிதடி படங்களில் மட்டும் நடிக்காமல் தனது பாணியிலிருந்து மாறுபட்டு நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்றார். மேலும், 3 இடியட்ஸ் ‌‌ரீமேக்கில் அவர் நடிக்கயிருப்பதாக பத்தி‌ரிகையில் படித்தேன். அது உண்மையா என்பது தெ‌ரியாது. ஆனால் நடித்தால் நன்றாக இருக்கும் என தெ‌ரிவித்தார்.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s son Sanjay who made an impressive debut in the song sequence Naan Adichaa Thangamatte… in Vettaikaran is said to be once again doing a film with his dad.
The grapevine has it that Sanjay is making a cameo appearance as the son of the character played by Vijay in the climax of his under production Siddique directed Kavalkaran.
The shooting of the film is taking place in Kumbakonam.

After shaping Vijay as a top actor, it is now time for S A Chandrasekar to mould his son as a successful politician, so to speak. For the director describes Vijay as an emerging leader who would serve the society by entering politics in future.

“Today’s worker is tomorrow’s leader. My son is working for the betterment of the people today. And I am hopeful he will become a leader tomorrow,” Chandrasekar said in an interview to a popular Tamil weekly.

“There is a gap in politics now. People feel that they are in need of a good politician. An actor can bridge the gap and he can create a change in the society. But he should be prepared to undergo all struggles,” he reportedly said.

Talking about his production venture ‘Veluthukattu’, SAC says, “it is a story set in the backdrop of a village. The script narrated by my assistant Senathipathi impressed a lot and I immediately came forward to produce it.
