ஆவேசமாய் ‘நாம் தமிழர்’ கட்சி ஆரம்பித்திருக்கும் இயக்குனர் சீமான். அரசியல் பணிகளுக்கிடையே ஒரு படத்தை இயக்கவுள்ளார். மிகவும் வலிமை வாய்ந்த கதையாகவும், ஒவ்வொரு தமிழனையும் யோசித்துப் பார்க்க வைக்கும் காட்சிகளுமாக அதிரடியாய் களம் இறங்க இருக்கிறார்.

விஜய்தான் ஹீரோ. விஜய்க்கு இது முக்கியப் படமாக இருக்கும். ஏற்கனவே இப்படி ஒரு கதை இருப்பது விஜய்க்குத் தெரியும். இப்போது வேண்டாமே என்று தள்ளிப்போட்டு வந்திருக்கிறார். அதற்கான நேரம் இப்போது வந்திருக்கிறது. அதனால் ஒப்புக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்.

‘காலைப்புலி’ தாணு தயாரிக்கும் படம் என்றால் பிரம்மாண்டத்துக்கு பஞ்சமே இருக்காது. ‘புது கெட்டப்பில் நடிங்க இளைய தளபதி’ என்று ஓயாமல் கோஷமிட்டு வந்த அவருடைய ரசிகர்களுக்கு தீனி போடும் வகையில் வித்தியாசமான கெட்டப்பில் குதிக்க இருக்கிறார் விஜய்.

Vijay will sport a new look

Vijay who is working in the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit Bodyguard will sport a complete new look..

The film is directed by Siddique , who had directed Friends in Tamil with the actor..Asin shares the screen space with the actor.. The director who is known for his stories which has a fresh appeal, is working round the clock to give it a best shot..

Interestingly when he is a writer he says “I read out all my stories to my family members and gauge their reactions and make changes accordingly. However, I’m my best critic”..

The director has given a new look for Vijay in the film.. Unlike his recent films, there won’t be any hero introduction song in this film.And he says “You will see a new Vijay in this film; he’ll leave a lasting impression on the minds of audiences with his romantic image.

The film is a love story but told in a different manner.. Vidhyasagar will be scoring the music..

Sources say, he will also be directing hindi version of the film Bodyguard, which will have Salman Khan in lead..

Genelia bags Vijay film

Genelia wasn’t lucky when she landed in Kollywood few years ago. Today she may not be counted in the ranks of Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif in Bollywood but Genelia is still a charming favourite for many. Recently her success in Bollywood was repeated in Kollywood also. Her last film in Tamil 'Santosh Subramaniam' was a super hit and her jinx in Kollywood was broken for ever.

Her second round in Kollywood is gaining momentum. After the success of ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ she bagged ‘Uthamaputhiran’ opposite Dhanush and now she has got an even bigger film.

‘Jayam’ Raja who gave Genelia her first hit in Tamil has signed her for his film with Vijay. Vijay's 52nd film which is tentatively titled 'Velayudham' will be her next big thing. ‘Jayam’ Raja was particular that Genelia play the role because of her bubbly attitude which the character also wants very much. This is Genelia’s second film opposite Vijay after ‘Sachin’.

VIJAY - WHAT’S THE HURRY?

Even as Sura has just hit theaters, and we are yet to forget the songs from Vettaikaran, we get the news that Kaavalkaran is well into its shooting and is expected to be wrapped up by June or latest by July after which Jayam Raja is waiting to direct one with Vijay in the lead. Good news for Vijay fans, they will have plenty to watch and talk about, and perhaps gloat over in the next year or so. But, one is also forced to think about the sudden shift in gears from the Vijay camp, as if the T20 fever has caught on here too. This is not to say that Vijay was slow in getting his films released before this. In fact, he is one of the most consistent stars when it comes to getting his films into theaters in regular intervals. There has been no Pongal in the last five years which has not featured a Vijay release, except of course 2008 and 2010, when he had already released his films in late December; Azhagiya Thamizh Magan and Vettaikaran respectively. Almost always, the next movie of Vijay was never planned, or at least never revealed until his current project hit the screens. But, that strategy seems to have gone for a toss now. Even while Sura was under shooting, we did know that Jayam Raja was in the scheme of things with the Vijay camp. Even

more surprising is how Kaavalkaran emerged out of the blue, a few weeks after its Malayalam original Bodyguard hit the theaters in Kerala. While it is not undesirable for the industry to have one of its top stars working in full throttle, one cannot help the feeling that the mass appeal and following that Vijay commands deserves to get films that have been done after a lot of careful thought and planning. Yes, Vijay never fails to satisfy his fans. But, there is definitely a lot more that he can offer that can be missed in the frenetic pace at which his films are getting made at the moment. But, this is not the first time that we have seen Vijay enter a very intense phase of film making in his career. If one remembers correctly, the period of 2004-2005 was also one of similar activity with films like Madure, Thirupachi, Sukran, Sachein, Sivakasi and Aadhi making it to theaters in the space of 18 months. Now, how many of these were successes are anybody’s call. There is enough proof that having back-to-back releases in the space of months might not be the best way for a big star to go about, at least in the Tamil film industry. This is a bit different from the Malayalam film industry where Mammootty and Mohanlal, even after 30 years of stardom, give more than 6 films each every year. This is not to criticize Vijay or his style of work. There is no doubt that every time his film releases; how much ever close to his previous release, the fans go into frenzy and the industry receives a boost in revenue. But, this is about the potential that can go unused or unrecognized amidst all the hurry. Perhaps, Vijay needs to stop and look to realize that he can offer a whole lot more to his fans. Yes, there was a phase in the early 80s when Kamal and Rajinikanth used to release a film every quarter. But, times have changed. More than twenty years later, it is not the same criteria that define a star. We love to have more of Vijay, but we would love it even more if we could have the best of him.

I am satisfied, happy and is at peace: Vijay

Today, Vijay is an icon in his own right- millions of youngsters idolize him. All top producers, directors and heroines want to work with him and his persona gets bigger with each film. He has survived the highs and lows but remains the biggest phenomenon in Kollywood.
Vijay's new release Sura has taken a bumper opening worldwide, though he is modest enough to agree with critics that it is another mass formula film. In this exclusive interview to Sridevi Sreedhar, he opens up. Excerpts
What is your state of mind? 
I am happy, at peace.
Sura has been torn by critics. There is always a negative talk about your films for the first three days of release. Does all this affect you? 
It mattered to me a few years back but today I have crossed that stage. And bad reviews do not affect me or my film. It’s the audiences who decide the fate of a film not critics. Success or failures don’t matter to me. I take everything in my stride and move on. And I want to make a point to critics in general that they have all the right to point out mistakes in anybody’s films but not try to keep the audiences away from theatres as it affects the all-important 10 day business of any film.
What attracted you to do Sura, your 50th film? 
For me, Sura is my next film after Vettaikaran. I never wanted it to be hyped as my 50th film.
There is an underlying message in the film. If you see my last few films, I fight for my love, friend, mother or sister. But here, hero Sura fights for an entire village full of poor, helpless people. I was very satisfied while doing the film and today (smiles) with the collection figures.
The release of every film of yours is an event in Tamilnadu. And Sura has taken a gargantuan opening in Tamilnadu and Kerala...
I owe it all to my audiences. They have supported me and encouraged me. I can’t ask for more. I give my fans due respect because I believe that you cannot be unfair to people who love you unconditionally.
They say that Sura has lot of political anecdotes. Please comment? 
It was not deliberate attempt. After the script was complete, we thought that those dialogues were appropriate to the story as the villain is a corrupt politician.

Which is your favourite song in the film? 
I like the two songs in the second half-Thanjavoor Jillakkari... and Naan Nadanthal Adhiradi. We didn’t want the normal introductory song and tried a subtle and underplayed Vanga Kadal Ellai.. number. And there is no Kuthu song in the 12th reel like in all my films.
Tell us about your Siddique directedBodyguard remake from Malayalam?
First and foremost let me tell you assure you that the title of the film is not Kavalkaranas reported. We are yet to title the film. I saw the original and liked it. It has a different script not following the beaten track of my formula films. Small changes have been made by director Siddique but we have not tampered with the basic story.
Is Sanjay doing the role of your son in the film? 
(Laughs) Not at all. We have not discussed anything like that at home.
How was it working with Asin after a long time? 
She remains the same though she went to Bollywood in between. Her cooperation, dedication and timing is the same.
What about 3 Idiots remake that is doing the rounds? 
It’s too early to talk about it. There were some initial talks about it with Gemini films but nothing concrete has been discussed.
